Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in a sexual assault case. The Manhattan Supreme Court handed down the sentence on Wednesday. He had been convicted in April of this year. Twenty years ago, in 2006, the 74-year-old Weinstein sexually assaulted a reality show production assistant named Miriam Haley at his Manhattan apartment.
Before the sentencing, the victim told the court, “This incident has had a devastating impact on my life. My sense of safety has been severely compromised. This trauma will stay with me forever; it is like a life sentence for me.” Similarly, Harvey Weinstein, who had previously denied allegations of rape or sexual harassment, apologized to Halley in court.
Notably, Weinstein had been sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020 following a conviction for raping another aspiring actress; however, the New York Court of Appeals overturned this conviction in 2024.
