Nuapada Rabi Procurement: Collector Orders Zero Token Lapse For Farmers.

A review meeting was held today under the chairmanship of District Collector Madhusudan Dash regarding the progress of the ongoing Rabi dhan procurement in Nuapada District. The meeting discussed in detail paddy procurement in the district, mandi management, the inspection system, and steps taken to prevent illegal entry of paddy.

Currently, paddy procurement is underway in 23 out of 51 mandi in the district, while the remaining mandi will be functional by May 31. The District Collector directed the concerned officers to ensure smooth paddy procurement by giving priority to the convenience of the farmers.

The district collector directed the continuation of strict inspection and enforcement activities to prevent the illegal entry of paddy from the bordering state of Chhattisgarh. All rice millers have been asked to provide the complete details of their representatives to the administration. The CCTV surveillance, functioning of the control room, and overall monitoring system in the mandi were also reviewed.

Giving priority to the interests of the farmers, the district collector clearly stated that no farmer should lose his token, and he directed all the officers to be vigilant so that they do not face any problem in selling the paddy. It is worth mentioning that since the beginning of the Rabi paddy harvest, the district administration has been keeping a strict vigil in the border areas. Various enforcement teams, RMC, and the police department are carrying out checks day and night. As a result, 645 bags of paddy along with 3 vehicles have been seized so far while illegal paddy was entering from Chhattisgarh. The quantity of paddy seized is 206.52 quintals. The District Collector warned that strict legal action will be taken against the persons and vehicle owners involved in such illegal activities.

Additional District Collector Subash Chandra Rait, Deputy District Collector Surmi Soren, DRCS Shiva Prasad Swain, District Supply Officer Trinath Bhoi, Nuapada Tehsildar Lalitendu Dandasena, and other concerned officers were present in this review meeting.
