A training program for the implementation of the District Level Action Plan (2026-2029) for the prevention of child marriage was organized by the district administration in collaboration with UNICEF at the Zilla Parishad Conference Hall in Parlakhemundi, Gajapati district headquarters. A seminar was held and training was provided to the employees of various departments at the district, block and panchayat levels. Child Protection Advisory Officer Ghaziram Panda, who came from UNICEF Bhubaneswar, provided various exercises and training with the participation of employees of all the participating government and private institutions.
In 2023, Gajapati district received the honor of being the second district in the state to be declared child marriage free, so he called for taking this direction in the future. Additional District Magistrate Falguni Majhi, Principal Development Officer Dayamaya Padhi, District Social Welfare Officer Manorama Devi and district level officers of various departments participated in the program. These trained district employees are hopeful for the successful implementation of child marriage prevention in the future.
