Negligence In Vansadhara River Embankment Work; Parala MLA Rupesh Panigrahi Reviews Ground Situation

Following complaints of negligence and substandard work being done in the construction of the dam on the Bansadhara River, which flows through the Kashinagar area, Parla MLA Rupesh Panigrahi visited the site and inspected the situation. The MLA’s visit has started a discussion in the local area after allegations of irregularities in this project, which is being carried out for the safety of the people living in the riverbanks and for flood control. According to reports, many villages in many panchayats of Kashinagar block, including Kashinagar NAC, are located on the banks of the Bansadhara River. Due to floods in the river during the rainy season, the river banks are often submerged, affecting the lives and property of the people. Keeping this in mind, the construction of the dam was started at various places along the riverbank using large stones and soil.

The locals have complained that the work, which was started about two years ago, has not been completed yet. Along with this, allegations have also been raised of the use of substandard materials in the construction work and the contractor working in an arbitrary manner. Similarly, a complaint was filed by the members of the Budura Samiti in the hearing of the District Collector regarding the substandard construction work on the river bank near Vanna village. Based on the said complaint, MLA Rupesh Panigrahi went to the construction site and inspected the quality of the work. During the visit of the MLA, District Council Chairman Gabara Tirupati Rao, Kashinagar Block President B. Sayamma, Budura Samiti members B. Baburao, K. Apparao and many others were present. At this time, the locals presented various complaints to the MLA regarding the quality of the construction work. Some people complained that there were also allegations that some people from the contractor’s side threatened people when they asked about the quality of the work. The MLA himself supervised the construction of the stone-lined dam from Kashinagar to Vanna village. After this, he discussed with the departmental officers and informed them about the complaints of the people.

MLA Shri Panigrahi said that this work related to public safety must be done as per the prescribed standards. Strict action will be taken against any irregularities or substandard work. Similarly, it is the duty of the public to keep an eye on the government’s work and development work. If the contractor opposes or misbehaves with the people, they will be punished as per the law, the MLA advised the people. Currently, the local people are keeping an eye on the departmental supervision regarding the quality and timeliness of this roadblock work.
