In the last 3 days, the first rainfall of this year has washed away the development of Bargarh city and water has entered the houses. Complete defects have been found in the drainage system. This time, the first rainfall due to low pressure has flooded the city of Bargarh. Rainwater mixed with sewage has entered the houses of people in Ward No. 1 Tangarpada under Bargarh Municipal Council and other areas. Beds, mattresses, cooking gas, utensils and various furniture are floating in the water. People’s cooking has also been affected and stopped. People have not been able to sleep at night.
Due to continuous rain from Wednesday night to Friday, people have had to face such hardships. Not only that, the government bus stand in the city center is flooded with rainwater, causing inconvenience to commuters. While various government offices are also surrounded by rainwater, the roads are also flooded, causing traffic to be disrupted. Every year, the city becomes so bad on rainy days. But so far, there has been no permanent solution to this problem.
Encroachments are being removed from the main roads of the city and drains are being constructed at various places. However, although the construction of drains has been started for a long time, it has not been completed yet. As a result, the half-finished drain has doubled the suffering of the people. Notably, in the last 3 days, the highest rainfall of 499 mm was recorded in Ambabhona block of the district, while 161 mm was recorded in Atabira block, 128 mm in Bargarh, 170 mm in Barpali, 183 mm in Bhatli, 194 mm in Veden, 162 mm in Bijepur, 95 mm in Gaisilet, 60 mm in Jharbandh, 39 mm in Paikamal, 39 mm in Padmapur and 92 mm in Sohela.
