Fuel Crisis Suffocates Poultry Sector: 5,000 Birds Die in Malkangiri as Diesel Shortage Deepens

Malkangiri: The petrol and diesel shortage in the state is really bad. It has hurt the poultry industry much. Something sad happened in Malkangiri town. Over 5,000 chickens died on a farm because the owner could not get diesel to run the generators when the power went out.

Manoj Kumar Padhi is a poultry farmer from Mundaguda area in Ward No. 01. He has a farm. To keep the chickens alive the farm needs to be at the temperature and have good air. This is especially important when it is very hot.

The power goes out a lot in areas. So farmers like Manoj use diesel generators to keep the fans running.. Because diesel is hard to find Manoj could not get any. He looked over town for fuel but he could not find any. When the power went out it got very hot on the farm. 5,000 Chickens died. Manoj Kumar Padhi said “I am completely ruined.” He does not know how he will recover from this loss.

This problem is not about what happened to Manoj. The petrol and diesel shortage has stopped transport vehicles. So chicken feed, medicine and other important things are not getting to the farms. If the fuel supply does not start again soon many poultry farmers will lose their businesses.

This will cause problems in the local economy. Experts say that if this continues there will be a shortage of chicken and eggs. This will make prices go up. It will hurt ordinary people.

Local farmer unions and citizens want the district administration to do something about this away. They want fuel to be available for farmers. They want farmers like Manoj to get money to help them. The poultry industry and the farmers are the Malkangiri poultry industry and the Malkangiri farmers. The Malkangiri poultry industry is in trouble because of the petrol and diesel shortage. The Malkangiri farmers are worried, about their businesses.
