A hardworking tribal farmer from Tamasa Panchayat and village under Malkangiri Sadar Block, Deba Madhakami, has done a miracle in his home garden, which has now become a topic of discussion in the entire area. He has successfully grown the Japanese variety ‘Miyazaki’ mango, known as the most expensive and costly mango in the world market, in his garden.
According to reports, farmer Deba Madhakami bought this mango tree from Sarb Kumar Bisoyi of the Malkangiri Sadar area for Rs 7000 about 4 years ago and planted it in his garden, but surprisingly, the generous person has not taken any money for this tree till now. This special purple and red mixed mango, which is sold for around Rs 2.5 to 3 lakh per kg in the international market, is actually the original ‘Miyazaki’ variety, but its complete authenticity and official report are awaited only after a team of experts from the government level comes and inspects it immediately.
To protect this very valuable mango, farmer Dena Madkami has built a strong fence around it and sleeps under the tree all night, fearing that someone might steal it. By making this rare mango, which was previously only available abroad, grow in an area like Malkangiri, Dena Madkami has proven that with a strong will, original Miyazaki can also be grown in Malkangiri soil, which will bring new possibilities in modern and profitable farming for the farmers of the district in the coming days….
