State Police Headquarters – Press Note
A large cache of Maoist arms, ammunition, and explosive materials has been seized from the forest areas of Kirmiti and Katuapadar under Mathili Police Station limits in Malkangiri district.
The recovery was made during a joint combing operation conducted by personnel of the District Voluntary Force (DVF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) based on intelligence inputs provided by surrendered Maoists.
The seized materials include:
- 1 INSAS Light Machine Gun (LMG)
- 2 INSAS Rifles
- 2 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing 1 kg each (Tiffin Bombs)
- 1 IED weighing 8 kg
- 1 Grenade
- 18 Detonators
- AK Magazine
- Wireless Remote Switch
- Walkie-Talkie Sets
- Solar Panel
- Electrical Wires
- Router Device
- Printer Cartridge
- Disposable Syringes
- Bundles of Gauze and Cotton
- Polythene Tent Materials
- Empty Detonator Caps
- Crackers
- Gunpowder
- Codex Wire
- Splinter Materials
- Saline Bottles and Saline Pipes
- Various other equipment and supplies
According to preliminary investigations, the recovered arms and materials are suspected to belong to Maoist cadres operating under the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC).
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact ownership, intended use, and operational links of the seized materials. The recovery is being viewed as a significant success in ongoing anti-Maoist operations in the Odisha–Chhattisgarh border region.
