n Kalahandi district, the discussion has once again intensified regarding the arrangement of rice for the Anganwadi center. Allegations have come to light that the rice supplied by the government for the Pajen Anganwadi Center under Kalampur block was kept at the house of the concerned Anganwadi worker instead of being kept at the center. After the incident came to light, there was discontent in the local area and various questions have been raised about the safety and cleanliness of government goods.
According to information, a vehicle carrying rice had reached the designated Anganwadi center. However, since the center was closed at that time, the supply staff contacted the Anganwadi worker over the phone. However, since contact could not be established, it has been reported that the rice was later kept at the worker’s residence.
After this incident, many questions have arisen in the minds of the locals. If the rice is being supplied for the Anganwadi center, then why was it kept at a private house instead of being kept at the center? Is there any specific rule for the storage of government supplies? If there is, then the question arises as to whether that rule was followed or not.
When asked about the incident, Kalampur CDPO Nivedita Dey said, “If an Anganwadi center does not have its own building, then the supplies can be temporarily stored at the worker’s house.”
Then another big question has come to the fore here. According to the claim of the locals, the Pajen Anganwadi center has its own building. If the center was actually available, then under what circumstances was the rice stored at the worker’s house instead of being stored at the center? There is doubt as to whether this was done only for administrative convenience or if there was any other reason for it.
On the other hand, while the government is giving special importance to the clean distribution and proper storage of nutritional supplies coming to pregnant women, lactating mothers and children through Anganwadi centers, such incidents have also raised questions about administrative supervision.
So, whether there was any irregularity in this incident or not, it will be clear only after the investigation. Therefore, the locals have demanded that the relevant department conduct an impartial investigation, make the real situation public, and, if necessary, take action against those responsible.
