There is talk that BJD has suffered a big setback after 3 members of Nuapada District Council left the BJD party and joined the BJP. A few days ago, BJD suspended Khadial Block No. 6 Zone District Council member Maliwant Suna due to anti-party activities. He had resigned from the primary membership of the party complaining that he was being ignored by the BJD leadership. Similarly, it is learnt that Komna Block District Council member Muralidhar Bhoi and Nuapada Block District Council member Uma Thakur have also left the BJD for various reasons.
Yesterday, at a merger party organized at the state BJP office, in the presence of state president Manmohan Samal, the above three district council members and the Komna block BJD president apologized. It is known that senior Congress member of Komna block, Vrindavan Mahanand, has joined the BJP along with his supporters. Political commentators have expressed hope that the BJP’s strength in Nuapada district will increase due to this merger. Kalahandi MP Malvika Devi, Rajya Sabha MP Sujit Kumar, Dharmagarh MLA Sudhir Kumar Pattyoshi, Nuapada MLA Jay Dholakia and many district and state leaders were present at the merger party.
