With the arrival of the rainy season, the fear of waterlogging has once again become a concern for the people of Malkangiri district. Due to the several sloppy bridges on the main road extending from Jaipur to Motu, the fear of communication being disrupted even with a slight rain has increased the concerns of the people of the district. Main communication is blocked Especially the bridges over the rivers/rivers of Pangam, Tamosa, Pateru, Kangurkonda, M.V. 90 and M.V. 96 are very sloppy. Along with this, the bridge near Kanyashram on the main road leading from Kalimela is also in a dangerous condition. As soon as the water level of the river rises during the rainy season, water flows over these bridges. Due to the lack of alternative routes, the people of the locality have been waterlogged for days and are suffering due to the lack of emergency services.
Construction work slow: Allegations of administrative negligence According to the complaints of the villagers, the construction of high bridges at important places has not been completed even though it was started many years ago. Due to departmental negligence and contractor’s intransigence, the work is stalled. Despite repeated demands and complaints from the district residents, no promising progress is being seen. There has been intense dissatisfaction among the local people regarding the administrative inaction. Keeping in view the traffic problems during rainy days, the residents of the area have demanded that the administration intervene immediately and complete the work of the under-construction bridges at the earliest.
