Vedaant Madhavan Asian Games Swimming Debut: Misses Final By 0.2 Seconds

Bollywood actor R. Madhavan’s son, Vedaant Madhavan, made his Asian Games debut today, Monday (September 21). However, the start was not particularly impressive, as Vedaant failed to qualify for the 4x200m freestyle relay final. Vedaant finished ninth in the freestyle relay event. The four-member team—comprising Sajan Prakash, Dakshen Shashikumar, Vedaant Madhavan, and Aneesh Sunil—completed the race with a time of 7:24.3. In this competition featuring 13 countries, only the top eight teams advanced to the final; India was eliminated after finishing in ninth place. While Vedaant’s journey ended at the relay heats, Srihari Nataraj delivered a strong performance for India by reaching the men’s 50m backstroke final. Actor R. Madhavan shared this update on Instagram, noting that Vedaant missed a spot in the final by 0.2 points and fell short of becoming the top Indian swimmer in the event by 0.5 points.

It is worth mentioning that 21-year-old Vedaant Madhavan participated in the Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. He competed as part of the Indian team in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay event.

Vedaant’s journey is not over yet.

However, Vedaant’s journey at the Asian Games has not yet concluded. After the relay race, he is now focusing on the 200m freestyle individual event and the 200m backstroke competition scheduled for September 23. It remains to be seen whether Vedant will achieve success in these events.

Meanwhile, the results for India in the men’s 50m freestyle heats were not particularly impressive. Although Akash Mani topped his specific heat, he finished 26th overall with a time of 23.43 seconds. On the other hand, Gitesh Shah finished 28th with a time of 23.57 seconds.
