Pravat Kumar Patra – Police have tightened their action against smuggling of sand in Gajapati district. Late last night, the Paralakhemundi Adarsh Thana police raided vehicles carrying sand being transported through the city. During the inspection, 4 trucks and 3 tractors were stopped and investigated. According to the police, the drivers of the vehicles failed to show the necessary documents and licences related to sand transportation.
As a result, all the vehicles have been seized and detained at the police station. The police are investigating whether the vehicles are involved in illegal sand transportation or not and where the sand was coming from and where it was being taken. After the investigation, further action will be taken as per the law, according to the police; it has been informed. It has been revealed that the police and the administration will further tighten the check on illegal mineral resources transportation in the district.
