Malkangiri, June 9, 2026 (Manas Ranjan Netam)
The Malkangiri district administration has consistently demonstrated its commitment to addressing public grievances and ensuring the availability of basic amenities to citizens. In another remarkable example of its people-centric governance, the administration has successfully resolved a long-standing drinking water problem in Katapali Colony under Korukonda Block.
Taking the villagers’ concerns with utmost seriousness, the district administration arranged for the installation of a new tube well within a record time frame, bringing significant relief to the local residents.
Katapali Colony, a large village with a population of over 2,000 people and 121 households, previously had only six tube wells. These water sources were insufficient for the growing population, causing severe drinking water shortages, particularly during the summer months. Upon receiving representations from the villagers, the district administration immediately treated the issue as a top priority.
Following instructions and direct guidance from the District Collector, a specialized technical team was promptly deputed to conduct a detailed assessment of the groundwater situation in the village.
Soon after the survey was completed, the excavation and installation of a new tube well were initiated on a war footing under the supervision of departmental officials. Owing to efficient planning and prompt execution by the administration, the hand pump was made fully operational within a short period.
As a result, all families in the colony now have access to clean, safe, and potable drinking water near their homes, greatly improving their daily lives and reducing the hardships they previously faced.
The residents of Katapali Colony have expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Malkangiri district administration and the concerned local authorities for their quick, positive, and effective response to the community’s needs.
