A district level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Collector and District Magistrate Pratish Arvind Rajshirke to review the progress of various national health programmes, quality healthcare services in Malkangiri district. At the beginning of the meeting, CDM and PHO Dr. Nihar Ranjan Prahraj briefed the meeting about the overall progress of healthcare services in the district. The District Magistrate reviewed the progress of the ongoing National Quality Assurance Programme in the district and laid special emphasis on providing quality services to patients in all health institutions, cleanliness, patient satisfaction and compliance with quality standards.
A detailed discussion was held on the development plan of the District Head Hospital, construction of new infrastructure, increase in patient facilities, availability of medical equipment and human resource status. The District Magistrate gave necessary suggestions for the development and improvement of the required infrastructure in health institutions.
The meeting reviewed various indicators related to malaria, wasting diseases, non-communicable diseases, National Child Health Programme, maternal health and child health. Emphasis was placed on regular health check-ups of pregnant women, safe delivery, child vaccination, anaemia control and identification and monitoring of high-risk mothers and children. The progress of case detection, treatment and nutritional support under the wasting disease prevention programme was reviewed and it was directed to further strengthen awareness, testing and treatment programmes in malaria-prone areas. In addition, the progress of screening and treatment of diabetes, hypertension and other non-communicable diseases under the NCD programme was reviewed.
All preparations for the upcoming Diarrhea Control Month, distribution of ORS and zinc, awareness programmes and extensive publicity in rural areas were discussed. Similarly, the steps and preparations required for the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio programme were reviewed.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of distribution of Ayushman Bharat cards under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The District Collector directed the officers to ensure that the cards reach the eligible beneficiaries and ensure maximum benefits of the scheme are available to the people.
The meeting was attended by CDM and PHO Dr. Prahraj, ADPHO Dr. Minti Mohanty, DPO Dr. Abid Hussain, District Programme Manager, all Medical Officers, Programme Officers and Health Workers. Finally, Dr. Mousumi Mishra expressed her gratitude for the cooperation of all the officers, medical officers and workers.
