No Rice, No Mid-Day Meal: Primary School Students Served Biscuits by Panchayat Member in Bayaudar!

The mid-day meal could not be cooked on Tuesday due to lack of rice stock at the government primary school in Bayaud under Ichhapara block of Muribahal district. As a result, the students were deprived of the government’s nutrition scheme.

On receiving the news, Ichhapara panchayat committee member Toofan Nag reached the school and distributed biscuits to the students on his own initiative.

When committee member Shri Nag asked the headmaster Sevanand Budek about this, he said that the school has completely run out of rice. Although the officials above were informed in advance, the rice has not arrived yet.

On the other hand, Muribahal BEO Shantnukumar Padhihari said, “You can bring rice from a nearby school and give cooked food to the children. We will investigate why it could not be cooked and appropriate action will be taken.”

The villagers have demanded strict action against the officials responsible for this negligence and permanent arrangements to ensure that no child is deprived of mid-day meals in the coming days.
