Local resident lawyer Alok Jena has filed a complaint under the RTI Act 2005 to the Akhvapada Irrigation Division regarding the cleanliness of the Biroli Minor Canal and Uplift Irrigation Project under Solampur Panchayat under this block. According to this complaint, Mr. Jena has sought complete details of the canal renovation, repair, mud cleaning and construction of the Uplift Irrigation Project during the financial year 2020-2026. The name of each work, code, administrative approval, estimated and sanctioned amount, name and address of the contractor, start and end date have been sought.
Along with this, copies of administrative approval, operational approval, work order, measurement book, completion and usage certificates have been sought. Mr. Jena has also sought proof of the money given to the contractor, departmental inspection reports, current status of the work and details of the defects, along with which villages and how many acres of land were benefited. Mr. Jena said that he has asked for such information keeping in mind the interests of thousands of farmers who depend on the said canal. Intellectuals said that corruption may be exposed after the RTI information comes out.
