A self-respecting, creative, all-rounder, public figure and visionary, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was born on 6 July 1901 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He played a significant role in shaping the political and ideological landscape of India in the pre- and post-independence era.
Son of Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee, Dr. Mukherjee completed his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Calcutta as a brilliant student and later went to England to become a barrister. His sharp intellect and leadership qualities made him a prominent figure from his youth.
Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was not only a political leader but also a nationalist thinker and reformer. Dr. Mukherjee, who gave the slogan ‘Do Vidhan, Do Pradhan, Do Nishan, Nehin Chalega’, dedicated his life for the integrity of India. His legacy reminds us that national unity, cultural pride and fearless leadership are essential for the progress of a nation.
Today, on the occasion of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s birth anniversary, a tribute program was organized by the Information and Public Relations Department at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park, Satsang Bihar, Bhubaneswar. On this occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Speaker Smt. Surma Padhi, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Manmohan Samal, MLA Shri Babu Singh, former Minister Shri Arvind Tachali, former MLA Shri Priyadarshi Mishra and many eminent personalities, activists of political, social and cultural organizations paid homage to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee by laying wreaths at the statue.
On this occasion, Director of Information and Public Relations Department Shri Anuj Kumar Das Patnaik, Director (Technical) Shri Gurbir Singh, Joint Director Sucheta Priyadarshini paid tributes to the statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
