As the election administration in Kalahandi district has started a big exercise regarding the Special Intensification Revision (SIR)-2026, a high-level review meeting was held at the Oswan Hall of the District Collector on Saturday in the presence of the Inspector of Voters List Balwant Singh, IAS, Chairperson and District Election Officer Pawar Sachin Prakash, IAS; Election Officers of Lanjigarh, Junagadh, Dharmagarh, Bhawanipatna and Narla assembly constituencies along with representatives of BJP, Congress, AAP and BJD attended it. In the first phase of SIR, the printing, distribution, digitization and polling station rationalization of enumeration forms were reviewed, while after this process, the number of polling stations in the district has increased from 1,413 to 1,705 and the draft voters’ list has been published in all the booths. While the deadline for filing claims and objections is till August 19, the decision on them will be taken by September 17 and the final voter list will be published on September 21. The Election Commission has directed the BLO, AERO, ERO and DEO to check the errors in the draft list, include the names of eligible voters, delete the names of ineligible voters and give priority to the speedy decision of claims and objections, while clarifying the main objective of SIR-2026 that “not a single eligible voter will be left out and not a single ineligible person will be included in the voter list”.
