On the occasion of the 15-day campaign to eliminate child labor, an awareness procession and awareness chariot were launched by the District Administration and Prabhagiya Shram Aut Office at Malkangiri District Headquarters. The procession started from the District Culture Bhawan and ended at Dandakaranya Ground. The procession was flagged off by Additional District Collector (Revenue) Vedavara Pradhan and Deputy District Collector Duryadhan Bhoi.
On this occasion, District Labor Officer (In-charge) Purnima Duruka, District Child Protection Officer Narayan Das, Tanmay Mandal along with other Assistant Labor Officers, Childline employees, members of Child Welfare Committees, students, civil society organizations, voluntary organizations, police personnel, and representatives of labor unions were present.
The message of this awareness march is to protect children from exploitation, provide them with quality education and accelerate their overall development by creating opportunities for it. Slogans were given and leaflets were distributed in various commercial establishments to ensure that no child labour is employed. The awareness programme will continue through miking and distribution of pamphlets to spread the message regarding complete elimination of child labour and prohibition of child labour in hazardous occupations.
