Education Rescue Movement over Serious Errors in Textbooks Against the BJP Government’s Conspiracy to Destroy the Education System, on the instructions of BJD Supremo Shri Naveen Patnaik, under the direct supervision of Malkangiri BJD District President and former MLA Manas Madkami, under the leadership of District Youth President Srinivas Muduli and District Student President Subrata Kumar Das, Malkangiri District Biju Yuva-Chhatra Janata Dal held a huge rally in front of the Malkangiri District Collector’s office today, demanding the resignation of the School and Mass Education Minister and burning effigies of Kush.
There are serious errors in the new textbooks from class 1 to 8. But the BJP is reluctant to admit its guilt and withdraw the faulty books. Against which the Biju Yuva and Chhatra Janata Dal is strongly protesting and is conducting a statewide agitation. According to the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, there are unprecedented and widespread errors in textbooks for classes 1 to 8. There has been corruption in the printing of textbooks worth 380 crores. The BJD has already demanded a CBI investigation and the resignation of the minister in this corruption through various forums. Once the truth comes out through the investigation, the BJD has demanded strict legal action against the guilty persons, officials and agencies. But no action has been taken till now. And after 2/3 months, the children are going to have their exams. But the books with errors have not been withdrawn.
The future of the students will be ruined if they read these error-filled books and give the exams. But the BJP government is not paying attention to this and is playing with the future of the children. During the time of the then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Odisha was praised for five schemes, but today it is being condemned at the national level for the error-filled books. The BJD said that the widespread errors in the new Odia textbooks are not just administrative negligence but a direct attack on the Odia language, literature, culture, heritage and the educational future of lakhs of students of the state. Despite such serious issues, the state government has not taken any action against the minister and the responsible officials, the Biju Janata Dal has alleged. In protest against this, a huge protest is being held by the Biju Yuva Janata Dal and the Biju Math Janata Dal. The minister has been demanded to resign immediately and an investigation should be conducted in the state government’s education policy and textbook controversy. There will be no compromise with the quality of textbooks, the basis of education society. There has been serious irregularities and corruption worth about Rs 380 crore in the printing and publishing process of these textbooks.
The BJD has also demanded a CBI investigation to uncover the truth of the entire incident, identify the culprits and take strict legal action against them. In addition, the party has demanded that all the money spent from the public money for printing defective textbooks be recovered from the concerned officials, institutions and guilty persons. It has demanded that error-free textbooks be provided to the students without delay. In this regard, the Malkangiri District BJD has demanded the resignation of Minister Shri Nityanand Gand on legal grounds through a memorandum to the District Collector.
The Biju Janata Dal has said that it will continue to fight for the protection of the interests of the students, the preservation of the dignity of the Odia language and every negligence affecting the future of the people of the state. It has been said that if further steps are not taken in this regard, the BJD will intensify the agitation. Today’s protest and protest rally program included BJD senior leader and BJD state secretary Durga Prasad Tripathi, Zilla Parishad president and Malkangiri district women’s leader Samari Tangul, State Biju Women’s Editor Laxmipriya Nayak, Malkangiri Municipal Council vice-president Kavita Mahant, BJD vice-president Praful Panda, all the leaders of Malkangiri district Biju Janata Dal district committee, Malkangiri district Biju Janata Dal state secretary, all Biju Janata Dal workers, all the leaders and workers of Malkangiri and Chitrakonda constituencies, District Council vice-presidents/all District Council members, all block/city chairpersons, all block/city BJD presidents, all Sarpanch/Samiti members/all Panchayats and other fronts. Leading figures and the general public were present.
