International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated at Nehru Nagar, Khariar Road, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority and Notified Area Council, Khariar Road. An awareness march and law awareness camp were organized on this occasion. The march was organized from Aam Sena Chowk to Nehru Nagar and members of the Women’s Circle of Khariar Road area, students of Gurukul Ashram and other friends participated in it and made the general public aware of the need for drug abuse.
The awareness program organized on this occasion was attended by the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Nabanita Dash, Chairperson of the Notified Area Council, Khariar Road NAC, Dr. Sonia Jain, Nuapada Acting Drug Inspector Prasannajit Mohanty, and Bargarh Ranger Deepak Kumar Singh, Nuapada Additional Group Education Officer Chaitram Nayak, Principal of Gurukula Ashram, Kunjadev Acharya, Kalahandi Zone Chairperson of Prajapati Brahmakumari Theological University Brahma Kumari Sumati Didi, former Government Advocate Trilokchand Soni, Chief Legal Services Adviser of the Authority, Advocate Prakash Sathiya, Deputy Chief Legal Services Adviser, Advocate Anup Sharma, Chairman of Khariar Road Muslim Jamaat, Mohammed Yakub, Chairpersons of various local women’s mandals and Akhir Mitragan (law volunteers) of the Authority.
On this occasion, Secretary Navnita Dash gave a speech about the negative impact of addiction on society, family conflicts caused by addiction, drug abuse, illegal challaning, ways to get rid of addiction, NALSA toll-free helpline number 15100 and free legal services and made the public aware. On this occasion, members of Prajapati Brahmakumari Eloiya Vishwavidyalaya performed a short play titled ‘Nisha Mukti Bharat’ to create awareness among the public.
