Many villages in the remote areas of Chitrakonda block have not yet reached development. Among them, the people of Garmentguda village in Kapatuti panchayat are still struggling for basic amenities. While 15 families live in this village, a piped water scheme has been arranged to supply water to the tube well and the house. However, the piped water scheme has completely failed here. Similarly, water is not coming from the tube well. As a result, the only hope of the villagers is water from the well. The women of Garmentguda village are walking in the scorching heat, carrying small children in their arms, and collecting water from the well. The villagers often fall ill with various diseases after drinking water from the well. And they rely on witch doctors for treatment. The villagers have been repeatedly demanding a permanent solution to this problem from the concerned department, but no steps have been taken.
Similarly, it is better not to mention health services. Health workers visit the village once or twice a year. So, if someone in the village falls ill with fever or other diseases, they go to the dishari and the gunia instead of the hospital. The real picture of how far the government’s development has reached this remote village is this Garmentguda village. It remains to be seen when the administration will reach this village and look into solving the problems and provide basic amenities to the villagers.
