Rs 13 Lakh Scam Alleged In Maintenance Work After Just 1 Year of Project Completion

Questions have once again been raised about the maintenance work of the road constructed at a cost of Rs 1.71 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana from Gurndaru to Buripada under Goimund Panchayat in Muribahal Block, Balangir District, under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana.

Just a year after the construction of the road, despite the provision of about Rs 1.3 lakh for five years of maintenance, only the collar of the road has been repaired and the work has been completed and government funds are being taken in the name of this.

According to the locals, within just a year of the construction of the road, the gates have come out at various places. They alleged that despite complaints about the quality of the work during the construction, no effective steps have been taken by the concerned department.

“The gates have come out at various places, but no repairs have been done anywhere. Now, in the name of maintenance, only the collar has been repaired and the responsibility has been completed,” said the villagers.

The locals have alleged that despite repeated complaints, the administration or the concerned department has not paid any attention to this as it is a suburban area. As a result, dissatisfaction among the residents of the area is increasing.

The residents of the area have demanded that a high-level investigation be conducted to verify the actual status of the maintenance work and if there is any irregularity, strict action be taken against the concerned contractor and the officer in charge.
