World Environment Day was celebrated at the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Silda, Nuapada, in coordination with the Nuapada District Legal Services Authority, Forest Department, and District Administration. On this occasion, a cycle procession started from the collector’s office and continued to the Kendriya Vidyalaya with slogans on environmental protection.
The procession was flagged off by the collector, Madhusudan Dash. The procession was attended by District Law Authority Secretary Nabanita Dash, Nuapada MLA Jay Dholakia, Security Superintendent Amritpal Singh, Forest Officer (Provincial) Khadial Aziz Khan, Forest Officer (Wildlife) Nuapada Sameer Kumar Sahu, S.R.P.F Commandant Deepak Mani Tripathi, District Chief Development Officer Lambodhar Dharua, A.C.F Ajay Khes, Kendriya Vidyalaya Chairman Balaram Mishra, district-level officers of various departments, teachers, forest department, voluntary organizations, women SHG workers, and legal services of the authority and other stakeholders, including Tinta Harijananka. After this, a tree plantation and a public meeting were held in the said school.
With the cooperation of everyone, the activities done for environmental protection on the one-year anniversary of declaring the district as a plastic-free district were discussed. On this occasion, the Forest Department awarded various nature lovers and nature lovers who worked for the protection of the environment. On this occasion, the Secretary of the Authority, Navnita Dash, gave a brief overview of the Environment Protection Act, the Wildlife Protection Act, and the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. After the awareness program, the Authority organized a plastic waste cleaning campaign, and about 87 kg of plastic waste was cleaned.
