Mass Plantation Drive Organized by Block Administration

A mass tree plantation program was organized by the Keonjhar District Administration in collaboration with Champua Panchayat Samiti and Forest Department. On this occasion, more than 100 saplings were provided by Champua Forest Department from each Gram Panchayat. Under the direct supervision of Champua Panchayat Samiti Community Development Officer Smritiranjan Sahu, more than 2200 saplings were provided from 22 Gram Panchayats of the block. The said mass tree plantation program was carried out under the supervision of the local Sarpanch, Executive Officer, ADO etc.

Under the direct supervision of Forest Department Range Officer ACF Akshay Chhatria, Community Development Officer Smritiranjan Sahu, Additional Community Development Officer Chunu Hansda etc., both forest workers and Panchayat Samiti employees in all the Gram Panchayats cooperated in this. In this tree plantation, the Forest Department had earlier provided 20 saplings of Amla, 20 saplings of Kanchan, 10 saplings of Amritbhanda, 20 saplings of Suzuni, 10 saplings of Gangashiuli, 10 saplings of Shaguan, 10 saplings of Pansa etc.

to each Gram Panchayat. Similarly, the Forest Department had also provided 50 saplings of various kinds to Champua Brahmakumari Ashram. However, thousands of such trees are being planted every year, and many trees are being destroyed due to lack of maintenance. Therefore, everyone was made aware of taking proper care of the trees and maintaining them for at least 5 years.
