The safety of doctors working in hospitals has once again raised a big question mark. The Doctors’ Association has expressed deep sorrow and displeasure over the unfortunate physical attack on a doctor present there yesterday, which led to the death of a patient while undergoing treatment. In protest against this planned incident, all doctors today wore black badges and staged a silent protest. Not only that, the association has warned that if the security arrangements are not tightened in the coming days, the agitation will intensify even more. The Doctors’ Association has said that no doctor ever wants his patient’s condition to worsen or someone to die. Doctors always try their best to save the life of a patient. But due to repeated targeting of doctors and physical attacks on them, doctors are now feeling insecure. This atmosphere of fear is creating a big obstacle in providing health services. However, the association has clarified that during this silent protest, patient care has been maintained completely normal and no negligence has been done.
According to the doctors, if there is any dissatisfaction in the minds of the relatives of the patients regarding the treatment, then there is the administration to complain and there is also the court for legal battles. But taking the law into their hands, creating chaos inside the medical premises and beating up the working doctors is sending a very wrong and dangerous message to the society.
The doctors have demanded that the administration immediately take strong action against this and arrest the attackers. If the government and the administration do not take any strict legal action soon on this sensitive incident, then the association has warned that the agitation will be intensified across the state in the coming days after discussing with the Odisha Medical Services Association (‘OMSA’). There is now a demand from all quarters to adopt a strong system for the protection of health workers.
