The seven-day ‘Developed Vibrant Village’ program has been successfully completed for the first time in the sensitive Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. In this special campaign organized under the joint auspices of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and ‘My Bharat’, talented youth from all over the country have showcased their skills. These youth delegates were selected on the basis of the rank of a national level quiz competition organized on the ‘My Bharat’ website.
This month, from June 15 to June 22, 13 youth delegates including Kaushal Chandrakar from Nuapada participated in this seven-day camp. Thirteen youth delegates from Odisha have joined this prestigious national program and brought glory to the state. Among them, the rising youth Kaushal Chandrakar from Nuapada district and brave youth from various districts of the state participated. After reaching the Dehradun base camp, the contestants first set off for the remote Uttarkashi. Upon reaching the border districts, they were given a traditional ‘hill cap’ and ‘gamuchha’ by the locals, which filled them with a different kind of enthusiasm.
During the seven-day programme, youth from different states got the opportunity to stay in border villages, namely Odisha’s youth team stayed in Sukhi village, Arunachal Pradesh’s youth team stayed in Jhala village and Himachal Pradesh’s youth team stayed in Bagori village. The youth delegates visited the villages of these border areas and gained first-hand knowledge about the simple lifestyle of the locals, their rich culture and the various problems they face in their daily lives.
During this trip, the youth got the opportunity to visit the holy Gangotri Dham and the historic Jadunga village. They also interacted with two local survivors who had experienced the devastating effects of the terrible floods of 2025. The sad and exciting experience heard from their mouths touched the young delegates. Not only did the tour, but for the development of the border villages, this youth group has submitted a detailed report to the Central Government on their entire experience, problems and solutions. It is hoped that this report will help in changing the profile of ‘Vibrant Villages’ in the coming days.
