‘Mo Gaa Mo Garba’ Trends as Odia Diaspora Returns Home to Celebrate Grand Raja Festival

Raja is a national festival of our Odisha. As much as our Odisha is festive about Raja, our Odia people celebrate many festivals but Raja is special for us. Why is it not a festival of brotherhood? No matter where they are, everyone comes together in this Raja festival. Everyone, regardless of their differences, comes together to eat, drink, play and have a unique fun. The organization of Astarang Block Alasahi Panchayat “Mo Gaon Mo Garba” has made a new and different effort this year for Raja festival.

This Raja festival, organized by social worker Arun Biswal on behalf of this organization at Alasahi Ahalakakar Gadibrahm Peetha, has filled everyone with new hope and happiness. This effort has been started to remember the lost traditions and heritage of our Odia people. The workers say that various artists will perform various dances, songs, The speech competition, the Raj Paan competition with Poda Pinta and other cakes organized by the mothers is very different, along with the fun of playing on bamboo doli, the Kabaddi game and sharing joy and happiness among themselves, this Gadibraham Peeth has become a unique place, not only the people of Alasahi Panchayat but also about five other Panchayats have brought together and shared a special message of brotherhood to the society today. This Raj Mahotsav was organized by social worker Arun Biswal, while others included his wife Soudamini Biswal, Captain Benudhar Lenka, Maschyajeebi Sangha President Prasan Behera, and the representative of Alasahi Sarpanch, Yuva BJP leader Pradesh Baral, presided over by Vishnu Charan Mallick.

The Raj Mahotsav was inaugurated and the ties of brotherhood were maintained and this tradition of our Odia home which is being lost in today’s modernity was revived. He gave a message on the stage, “Raja Mohotsav in Baluka Kala Sangku, thousands of daughters, sons-in-law and mothers gathered at one place to celebrate the unique effort of thousands of people today. Everyone was celebrating the festival in their own homes among friends and relatives, but the people who participated expressed that this festival of ‘My village, my pride’ has brought everyone together in one holy thread today.”
