The health services at Khadial Subdistrict Hospital, the main health center of Nuapada district, are in a state of disarray. The X-ray machine has been lying idle here for more than a year, causing problems for hundreds of patients in the locality. Hundreds of villages in Khadial, Sinapali, Boden and Balangir districts of Nuapada district rely on the Khadial Subdistrict Health Center for treatment, but due to the lack of this health center, patients who come here for treatment are being harassed. While the government is trying hard to provide free medical facilities to everyone, the real picture is completely different.
Since free X-ray services have not been available at the Khadial Subdistrict Government Hospital for more than a year, poor and tribal patients are forced to go to other places to get digital X-rays at exorbitant prices. As a result, he is facing financial burden. Patients coming with emergency or fracture problems have to wait for hours and rush to outside clinics for X-rays. Local patients have to depend on outside private diagnostic centers or district headquarters hospitals for simple X-rays.
The local public and intellectuals have repeatedly informed the hospital authorities and the district health department about this problem. Even after a year, no concrete steps have been taken to repair the machine or install a new one. This indifferent attitude of the administration has led to intense dissatisfaction among the people of the area. When the hospital authorities were asked about this, they responded that the machine was down due to a technical glitch and a letter had been written to the higher authorities to resolve the issue. Keeping in mind the interests of the poor people, the local people have demanded that the Nuapada District Magistrate and the Health Department immediately look into this matter and normalize the X-ray service at Khadial Hospital.
