Medical Negligence Claims Another Life: Chaos Erupts in Dharmagarh Over Blood Bank Failure

A very sad and shocking news has come from Dharmagarh Sub-district Hospital in Kalahandi district. Due to severe shortage of blood in the blood bank, an innocent 3-year-old boy has lost his sight due to the time being caught in a web of time. Intense agitation has been expressed in the local area over this incident. The concerned people and the family of the deceased boy have blocked the road by placing the body at Dharmagarh Medical Square.

Brief details of the incident:
The deceased boy has been identified as Priyanshu Durga (3) of Chhatagohila village under Koksara police station. According to information, Priyanshu was admitted to Dharmagarh Medical College after falling ill. During treatment, the doctor stated that he needed urgent blood. But unfortunately, there was no blood available in Dharmagarh blood bank. Since the child’s condition was critical, he was immediately referred to Bhawanipatna District Headquarters Hospital. However, the child breathed his last while undergoing treatment there.

National Highway-130C completely blocked:
The family and local residents have launched a strong protest alleging that the child died due to lack of blood. National Highway 130 C has been completely blocked with the body kept at Dharmagarh Medical Chowk. As a result, hundreds of vehicles have been stopped on both sides of the road and traffic has been completely disrupted. The protesters are demanding appropriate compensation to the family of the deceased and strict action against the guilty officials.

Ruling party questions the silence of the MLA:
The most surprising and disturbing thing is that this sensitive incident took place just 1 km from the residence of the ruling party’s local MLA Sudhir Pattyoshi. Even after so much time had passed since the incident and despite the public protesting on the highway, the failure to meet the MLA has created intense resentment in the local area. Such inaction by the public representatives has been questioned in public.

At the time of writing, tensions remain high at the scene and no final decision has been made by the police or local administration to resolve the situation.
