Historic Achievement: EMRS Students Shatter Records, Crack Odisha Civil Services Exam!

Another golden chapter has been added to the success story of Ekalavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Odisha. Demonstrating the transformative impact of quality education among the tribal community, three former students of the institution have successfully qualified in the ongoing Odisha Civil Services Examination of the Orissa Public Service Commission (OPSC).

Ms. Nilima Kumari Nayak, a Gand tribal from Nuagaon village, Harichandanpur block, Keonjhar District, has secured the 194th rank in the Odisha Civil Services Examination. An ex-student of EMRS Rank, Keonjhar, Nilima completed her higher secondary education at the institution in 2017. Currently working as an Assistant Labour Officer, Nilima is the daughter of retired Hindi teacher Mr. Mayadhar Nayak and matron Mrs. Hiramani Nayak. His extraordinary achievement has become an inspiration for tribal youth across the state.

Similarly, another proud achiever is Krishna Chandra Hembram, a Santal from Panchugochia village, Keonjhar district. He passed his 10th standard from EMRS Rampilo under Jajpur in 2017. He secured 185th rank in the Odisha Civil Services Examination. Krishna, who is currently working as a TGT (Social Studies) teacher at EMRS Bhawanipur, has overcome many personal difficulties in life after losing his parents, late Kulamani Hembram and late Jaba Hembram. This achievement reflects his strength, struggle, and dedication.

Along with this, Keshav Majhi, a Bhatra from Sanbarli village, Nabarangpur district, has also succeeded in the Odisha Civil Services Examination by securing 182nd rank. Keshav, who passed out from EMRS Hurli, Nabarangpur, in 2017, is now working as a teacher. Born into a simple farming family, he has today emerged as a role model for students from rural and tribal backgrounds.

The extraordinary achievements of all these alumni prove that the Ekalavya Model Residential School system has become a prominent and effective tool in identifying talent from the rural areas and empowering them to excel in competitive examinations and civil services.
